Testing 300 gsm Kraft Board Before Delivery

2026.07.22 7

Not every paper grade is easy to convert. Heavy kraft board is a good example. It demands stable web handling, accurate cutting, and clean sheet quality throughout the production process. If the sheeting process is unstable, even a small defect can create problems during printing, die-cutting, or folding later on.

That is why we encourage customers to send us their own materials whenever possible.

Recently, a customer supplied a roll of 300 gsm kraft board with a 1,245 mm roll diameter for a factory acceptance test on the CHM-SGT1700 High Precision Synchronize-fly Sheeter. Rather than relying only on machine specifications, the goal was simple—to see how the machine would perform with the actual paper that will be used in production.

During the test, two rolls were processed simultaneously. The machine accelerated smoothly and maintained stable operation throughout the run. The synchronized dual rotary knife system produced consistent sheets while keeping the paper running steadily at high speed.

When the finished sheets came off the stacker, the results spoke for themselves. The sheets were stacked neatly with uniform alignment. The cut edges were clean, with no visible paper dust, pressure marks, scratches, or damage to the board surface. The finished sheets were suitable for the next production step without additional trimming or rework.

For packaging converters, these details matter more than any specification listed in a brochure. A clean sheet feeds more smoothly into the printing press. Consistent dimensions reduce waste during die-cutting. Better sheet quality also means fewer interruptions on the production floor and more reliable finished products.

The CHM-SGT1700 High Precision Synchronize-fly Sheeter is designed for paper grades from 200 to 1000 gsm, making it suitable for kraft board, white board, coated board, duplex board, and other heavy paper applications. To meet different production requirements, CHM also offers dual rotary sheeters in 1400 mm, 1700 mm, and 1900 mm working widths.

Every factory test is different because every customer works with different materials. For us, testing is not simply part of the delivery process. It is an opportunity to verify performance before the machine reaches the customer's factory and to make sure production can begin with confidence.

At CHM, we believe the best way to prove a machine is not through promises, but through real materials, real testing, and results that customers can see for themselves.
